I wanted to personally thank you for subscribing to this newsletter and supporting independent accountability journalism. There is so much in the works, including a couple big stories, that I am really excited to share it with you in the near future.
Today, however, I have a big announcement to make.
Important Context is now part of the OptOut Media Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that I co-founded with award-winning money-in-politics reporter Alex Kotch. Our mission was to advance independent media and reliable journalism.
Brining Important Context under OptOut’s umbrella will enable this publication to expand. We are building a brand new website and will hopefully bring on a new reporters going forward. It will also mean my own attention will not be divided between two projects, but rather focused on one.
For subscribers, both paid and free: Nothing will change on your end. You will continue receiving emails with our reporting and you will not be signed up for anything (NO SPAM!). The only change is that subscription funds will go to OptOut directly.
This is a step in the right direction for Important Context. Not only does it mean more reporting, it means more opportunities to work with other outlets (more on that soon). Thank you again for supporting this work!
