Important Context is a project of the OptOut Media Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to investigative and independent reporting that was co-founded in 2020 by invesigative journalist Walker Bragman and award-winning money-in-politics reporter Alex Kotch.

This newsletter, which mainly (but not exclusively) covers stories related to the money-in-politics, mis/disinformation, and public health, is dedicated to exposing injustice and bad actors. The goal of Important Context is to help the public decode the national conversation—to know who is saying what and to understand why they are saying it.
